Curriculum
East Ruston Infant School & Nursery strives to provide a rich, broadly based, creative and inspiring curriculum within which all pupils can learn and achieve their best. We ensure that learning experiences for our children are challenging yet accessible, interesting and effective and pitched to suit every child's age and ability.

Nursery

In Nursery, the teachers follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. Children will experience a wide range of play, exploration and problem-solving activities to promote their early learning and development skills, in preparation for the Reception class.
Reception
In Reception, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Our teachers guide the children with learning through experiences and play, as well as preparing them for the more formal approach to teaching, preparing them for KS1.
KS1
In KS1 we focus on English and Maths in the mornings with discrete lessons in these subjects. Children receive daily Phonics lessons which help them to develop their reading and spelling knowledge. We focus on developing the skills they need that are appropriate to their age, ability and progression.
Curriculum Website
We have developed a curriculum website showing curriculum maps, long term plans and subject specific overviews.
